Daily tasks at the Somaliland Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in Hargeisa are now a little easier thanks to EUCAP’s support – a support that includes mentoring and advising, and more recently, a donation of IT equipment.

A total of six laptops and desktop computers and a printer and photocopier machine were donated to the MOJ on February 22nd.  The new equipment will enable legislative drafting experts who are employed by the ministry to work flexibly from home and when they are away on duty trips, which was not possible before.

The Minister of Justice of Somaliland, Cabdiquani Maxamuud Caateeye Fariid, as well as the Director General Jama Ahmed Abdirahman, Director of Planning and Statistics Department Yasin M. Abdi, and the Director of Legal Professionals, Koos Mohamed Yusuf were also present. They thanked EUCAP for the contribution to building up the law drafting capacity of the ministry.

EUCAP is a civilian EU mission, under the auspices of the Common Security and Defence Policy, which assists Somaliland in strengthening its capacity in the field of maritime security.
