Waddani presidential candidate Dr Abdirahman Irro says he will stand by the ideals of the Somaliland nation and defend it from both internal and external aggression if elected president.
In a statement Irro said the independence if Somaliland is supreme and the people of the nation will ensure the country remains united.
“Somaliland Republic’s independence is a decision of the citizens based on the will of the people without turning back. All politicians, national parties and political organizations stand for it and reflect on that issue,” Irro said.
He said the WADDANI party is the leader of the realization and achieving those goals and protecting the unity, uniting the civilians and the nation of Somaliland adding that the party has learned to support and defend the nation.
He took issue with the government of Somalia accusing it of bullying Somaliland.
“The government of Somalia has been attacking the people of Somaliland, trying to plant hatred.
Somaliland will not go back, and its people will keep their existence. Because of that, while these issues exist, there are many politicians who are not responsible, who think they can deal with the division of Somaliland people and want to create enmity among them,”
He added: “People of Somaliland, I am a presidential candidate who stands for the unity of his people, promoting their unity and brotherhood, and fighting against the old politics of division.
Irro says that division has hampered growth in the country and is the biggest enemy that this people are suffering today.
“I am the presidential candidate and the party, and I believe in nationhood. I voicelessly urge our supporters, intellectuals and elite people to stay united.”
He urged Somaliland people living abroad to unite and look closely at the conflicts that are going on in the Horn of Africa encouraging them to stand against those out to divide the country.
“Let’s unite against our enemies who want to divide the people. Our unity is our victory and independence,” he said.
