Ruling Kulmiye party is hoping to win the upcoming presidential elections after overwhelmingly endorsing it’s candidate and current president Muse Bihi

The elections are set for November this year.

The party held it’s executive committee meeting on Thursday in Hargeisa

The Executive Committee meeting of Kulmiye party focused on different issues including advising and preparing for the elections, the agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia and the security situation in the country.

Members of the executive committee of Kulmiye party, presented advice and views based on knowledge and experience, which can help the party’s efforts to win the third consecutive term.

The chairman of the technical committee of the agreement between the Republic of Somaliland and Ethiopia Bashe Omar briefed members on the latest developments.

The president of Somaliland, who is the presidential candidate of the Kulmiye party, also told the members of the executive committee about the agreement, saying it was a transparent agreement that the nation will benefit from.

Speaking to the media later, president Bihi said:
“Our meeting today was about preparing for the elections. We have discussed issues that affect the nation and how we can tackle them and what we need to do ahead of the elections.”

The president noted that the elections is a show of democracy in the country.

“The people will vote and everyone will vote for whoever they want, but the election is mainly to unite us as a nation and beyond that we remain as a country.”

“As a party (Kulmiye) we remain united. We have met and agreed on several issues and we will walk together as a party,” Bihi said.

He said the party has remained united since the 2017 elections despite several challenges.

“After the 2017 elections, how things happened and everyone and every party is the same. Kulmiye is confident in those who ruled from 2010 till now and we will win the upcoming elections.”

He said the party is ready for the elections which he said will be free and fair

“As a party we are ready for the elections. We have a cherished history of managing this country. 14 years and the previous history of the country, who can stand tall, who is the party saying I have struggled, and I have the freedom, because the party can say I have defended the problems that occurred.

“We will take election, for the sake of transparency, discipline and accept results,” said Muuse Biixi Abdi.
