Fresh fighting has erupted in the districts of Samakaab and DhabanSaar, located in the Sool region between the local forces known as SSC (Sool, Sanaag, Cayn) and the Somaliland forces.
Tensions have escalated between the militias in the districts of Samakaab and DhabanSaar, located in the Sool region, near the town of Las Anod, towards the direction of Hargeisa.
Reports suggest that both sides are engaged in fierce clashes, resulting in casualties and injuries from the fighting.
This is the second wave of conflict between the local forces of SSC and the Somaliland forces in the Sool region, with the contested districts of Samakaab and DhabanSaar being of significant importance to Somaliland.
Clashes have also been reported in the outskirts of Las Anod, the capital city of Sool region, where the local forces of SSC and the Somaliland forces have confronted each other multiple times.
Meanwhile in Sanaag region, there are reports that Somaliland troops defected to Puntland forces and joined them on the outskirts of Erigavo, a town in the region located in eastern Somaliland.
The troops arrived with battle vehicles, resulting in Puntland forces taking over the outskirts of Erigavo where the Somaliland troops were previous based.
