The top leaders of Somaliland opposition parties UCID and Waddani held a meeting on Thursday in the capital Hargeisa to plan the way foward in their continued pressure on the governmentb to hold Presidential elections.
Coming just days after they warned the public to be wary of President Muse Bihi’s plans to use security machinery to intimidate opposition supporters, the parties met to discuss on their next round of action after the president extended his term in office.
Details of the meeting remained scanty but with their licence set tio expire later this month, the parties look geared up to mount fresh pressure on President Bihi.
have engaged in talks on Thursday in Hargeisa as the election dispute remains a contention between them and the government.
A few weeks ago, the two opposition parties announced their decision to call President Bihi presidency “illegitimate”, as his term came to an end on November 13, 2022, a move strongly criticized by the government.
