The president of the Republic of Somaliland Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilaahi (Cirro) attended the National Political Conference of JSL organised by the Ministry of Health Development and held at Ambassador Hotel in Hargeisa city.
The President’s in his speech highlighted how the government is determined to improve the basic health services in community.
The president said that accessing health services is a fundamental right of Somaliland citizens.
He said that as a government will improve the health system of our country, by expanding access to quality health care, upgrading basic health care centers in the provinces and districts, and investing in basic health services.
He urged government agencies, health care professionals, and community leaders – to unite to address health challenges so that the country can achieve sustainable development in health services.
On the other hand, the Minister, Deputy Minister and Director General of the Ministry of Health Development detailed the current political objectives of the National Health in the near and long term. The most important points that the officials of the ministry summed up about the purpose of the national health policy were the foundation and implementation of National Health Insurance (National Health Insurance), the National Health Financing Plan, District Health Alert Systems, Strengthening co-operative relations with the Ministry of Health Development and the interests of Health providing Health Services for People living with Special Needs, dealing with Mental Ailments, and the foundation of the Center for Disease Control of Somaliland (Somaliland CDC).
