The president of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro) on Wednesday opened a national conference of the Ministry of Education, Development and Science to promote the learning of the Technical and Work Skills.
At the opening ceremony of Technical Education and Skills attended by members of the council of ministers of parliament, intellectuals and other leaders, President Abdirahman Irro gave talked of the importance of skills development and how it is needed to teach the youth skills.
“To reduce unemployment, we should teach our youth the skills of work and craft, then invest in them, and encourage them to come up with creativity to create jobs.”
The president said the government of WADA-JIJR will increase the budget for the education of work skills and handicrafts.
“The government of Republic of Somaliland will increase the budget of technical education and trainings of jobs related to industries, agricultures, Construction, and technology. ”
He said that as a government is determined to equip the youth with the skills necessary for the development of the nation.
The president said that the match between Technical Education and Training (TVET) and the need for the job market is not only about reforming education but it is an investment for our future.
The conference is expected to bring out advice and instructions that will benefit from the reform and modernization of the Technical Education Program and skills training to get citizens who can cover the need for jobs in the market.
