President of the Republic of Somaliland Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro) on Wednesday together with members of his government had an important meeting with the United Nations Secretary (UN) for Somaliland / Somalia, Mr. James Swan.
The delegation of the United Nations Secretary congratulated the president of JSL for his victory in the November presidential elections.

The delegation praised the Republic of Somaliland for the unprecedented election competition that took place in Somaliland and the civilized way that the ruling was taken over.
The United Nations delegation said that the United Nations Organizations are ready to continue the important work that they are doing in Somaliland.

The UN welcomed the peace calls made by the president, especially through negotiations and peaceful ways to end conflict. The delegation congratulated the president for the nomination of the National Peace Committee JSL.

President  Abdilahi thanked the UN team for the work they are doing in Somaliland.

He admitted that the current  activities (both humanitarian and development) that the United Nations Organizations are implementing in Somaliland are vital and added that his government will priorities peace and implement changes with more tangible aspects.

The President said his focus is to ensure peace prevails in the eastern regions and  facilitation of exchange of prisoners followed by opening of road network which are important for social and business transactions.

He said the peace and stability in Somaliland that has prevailed for more than 30 years has contributed a lot to the East Africa region. “This is why Somaliland is requesting that the United Nations Association should help Somaliland in strengthening and strengthening the security partnerships so that we can respond to or prevent the big risks in the Horn of Africa.”

He said his government is ready to work closely with the United Nations, other international organizations and the governments that give donations to strengthen Somaliland issues towards peace and stability, reforming the national organizations to reach sustainable development.
