Protecting national interests is a non-stop process, based on a deep understanding of how national security and economic interests change when internal and external facts change. The history of international politics has shown that countries that combined with one unacceptable strategy for changing situations have lost important opportunities, while those who have analyzed international changes have been able to protect their national interests.
For example, many countries whose economy relied on one source of resource have experienced decreases as global markets shifted, while those who wisely managed their resources and widened resources were able to adapt to the new circumstances. In this way, national security strategies cannot remain stable; a single country relied on military defense only felt fragile after non-direct attacks such as financial wars and social media wars.
Foreign policy and national security should be compatible with new circumstances, rather than decisive and unchangeable. Many countries that had long decided to connect with specific countries have later realized that their national interests need a wider review. Those who previously refuse to deal with the new reality have long understood that national interests are not permanent, but rather with current circumstances.
Somaliland will always protect their relations with neighboring countries, constant friends and the countries that have important interests. In the same way, many people who have interest will be handled, who on the other side will be interested in Somaliland. The place where we live, peace and modern government system and natural resources that need to be handed into the land to benefit from the people and country will make the world have a better relationship.
Somaliland is a country that has done something that most of the world countries can’t do. Somaliland has been saved for 34 years without debt. Reconciliation, armed forces, nation building and building a democratic system in a constitution with all state agencies and national embodiment done without a $1 release.
Global regulations, economic integration, and transparent powers have led many countries to change their strategies to protect their national interests. Therefore, Somaliland will have an open vision to regularly evaluate new opportunities and challenges, to ensure economic growth, stability, security and independence. Circumstances are changing, and it’s necessary to find new strategies to align with the new reality. Any nation that is inevitable will lose the strategic opportunities to build a better future.
