Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi “Irro,” the presidential candidate for Somaliland’s main opposition party, Waddani, led a massive rally today in Borama, the heart of the western Awdal administrative region, to kick off his bid for the presidency.
In his impassioned speech, Dr. Irro stressed the urgent need for real change. “We are breaking free from 7 years of regression, repression, imprisonment, and dehumanization. We are putting an end to 7 years of inflation and social suffering,” he declared.
Dr. Irro also emphasised the importance of holding the current Kulmiye-led administration accountable. “We must make our voices heard, and we will rebel through our votes,” he urged the supporters.
Following the successful rally in Borama, the presidential hopeful and his team proceeded to their next destination, Gebiley, where Dr. Irro reiterated his commitment to leading a national reform agenda.
After passing through Hargeisa, where the largest gathering of opposition supporters held their rally, Dr. Irro arrived in the coastal city of Berbera, his hometown where he was elected as an MP during the 2005 House of Representatives elections.
Today, October 27th, marked the beginning of Waddani’s election campaigns, symbolizing a fresh start for many. This day serves as a powerful statement from the public that all are united in their determination to turn the page and create a better future for Somaliland.
