Kulmiye MP Amin Saleeban Kuul has announced his defection from the ruling party to the opposition Waddani.
Kuul spoke to the media in Burco saying he had officially resigned from the President Muse Bihi party and will channel his efforts to campaign for the Waddani candidate Dr Abdirahman Irro for the presidential elections to be held on November 13.
He joins a growing list of Kulmiye party leaders and members who have shifted allegiance to the orange party whose popularity has been growing over the last few months.
Among those who have shifted support are key member of the Berbera District Council and Member of Parliament Abdirashid Maxamed X said. Yusuf.
Yusuf said he has been compelled to join the party and support its presidential candidate for the upcoming elections due its national ideals.
And last week, the Kulmiye party dismissed from its council members who have shifted alliance to other parties.
The ruling party which is facing stiff challenge from opposition party Waddani has seen its influence in key strongholds wane as the opposition gain popularity ahead of the November 13 presidential elections.
In a statement, Kulmiye said that all the members who proved that they left the Kulmiye party should be removed from the councils they were in, the central council and the whole party of Kulmiye.
The party further stated that there is no supporter of Kulmiye party who can claim the name of the party, yet they can’t speak in the language of the party.
“The one who does not talk on behalf of the party has broken the rules of the country and the rules of the Kulmiye party,” the party said.
The committee also called on all the supporters of Kulmiye party in the regions and districts of the country to prepare for the election campaign that will start soon while keeping the peace, stability and rules of the country.
