The president of Somaliland Abdirahman Irro has informed the ambassador of the European Union that peace is the first priority to his government, as he detailed the effective measures taken by the government to strengthen security and unity of the people.
The president explained to the ambassador of the European Union for Somalia & Somaliland, Mrs. Francesca Di Mauro and a wide delegation who were on an official visit to Somaliland Republic.
The president talked on the important steps taken by the government towards security and stability, especially the nationalism and regulation of more than 6,000 military and their weapons, which no one helps Somaliland.
He further commemorated the ending of the Ceel-Afweyn conflict, which ended with talks, welcoming and living in peace. He also talked about the peace in Ceerigaabo that the government prepared a welcoming environment, discussion and lasting solution to strengthen the unity of the society.

The president clarified that his government is committed to protecting stability, peace and unity of the society, urging the EU to strengthen cooperation and support on peace and stability issues.
He also talked on the independence of land, sea and the importance of the European Union to understand and the democratic system, political stability and development that the Republic of Somaliland has taken for more than thirty years adding that he is determined to ensure cooperation between the two sides, and that is the time that the EU should treat the Republic of Somaliland in a special way, and support economic and development projects that are special to the Somaliland Republic.
The ambassador of the European Union, Mrs. Francesca Di Mauro congratulated the president for the effective achievements that his government has taken for a short period of time, adding that the EU is evaluating the peace, stability and the democratic process in Somaliland, and at the same time it is ready to increase. Collaboration and cooperation towards security and development of the society.
