Irro meets Finland envoy to Somaliland, discuss development issues

The president of the Republic of Somaliland Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro) on Tuesday held an important meeting with Nelli Mikkola the deputy ambassador of Finland for Somaliland and Somalia.

They discussed about strengthening the ties and cooperation between the two nations, especially the strengthening of peace, development of the community and strengthening the principles of good governance.

The president thanked the deputy ambassador for the support that the government of Finland has given to the people of Somaliland. Also, the president has confirmed that Somaliland prioritise strengthening of peace and stability and continue resolving the disputes based on negotiation and understanding.

The president told the ambassador that during the short period he has been in office his government has achieved tremendous gains including harmonising the national army.

The president explained the important needs of the JSL community that the Finland Government can help Somaliland; such as health care, education, technologies and building the power of government agencies.

Deputy Ambassador Nelli Mikkola, on her side, congratulated the president of JSL for the peaceful elections.
Likewise, the ambassador praised the president of JSL for the leadership of his government towards the peace issues and stabilizing tensions in the eastern regions of the country. She said that the Finland government is ready to help Somaliland with its priorities such as health and education, mediating conflicts and building peace.
