President Irro makes changes in five regional governors

Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi ‘Irro’ on Wednesday announced a major reshuffle affecting several regional administrations, dismissing and appointing governors in Awdal, Saahil, Sanaag, Daadmadheedh and Salal.

In Awdal, the president removed Governor Mohamed Hassan Jama ‘Hoday’ and appointed Abdirashid Hassan Matan as the new governor.

In Sahil, Governor Mohamed Dahir Abdalla Gafane was dismissed and replaced by Abdiqani Mahmoud Ateye Farid.

In Sanaag, the president removed Governor Ahmed Abdi Muse and appointed Mahmoud Rage Ibrahim Guleed as the new regional chief.

In Daadmadheedh, Governor Abdirahim Mohamed Ahmed was removed and succeeded by Abdirahman Mohamed Abdi ‘Herer’.

In Salal, Ahmed Abdillahi Mohamed ‘Dhegayare’ was appointed as the new governor.

The reshuffle also affected national institutions: Haybe Osman Muse, a member of the Higher Education Commission, was dismissed and replaced by Abdi Saeed Fahiye Allale.

The presidency said that President Irro thanked the outgoing officials for their service and instructed the newly appointed to complete handover processes within three days to avoid administrative disruption.
