Somaliland government has officially banned planned demonstrations organized the Community Development and Human Rights Organization.
The Interior minister Mohamed Kahin Ahmed says the government is at liberty to ban any street protests on the basis of threat to the country’s security.
The Community Development and Human Rights organisations had planned street demonstrations to protest against continued human rights abuses orchestrated by the government.
Somaliland constitution allows citizens to picket. But in the recent past, opposition leaders and their supporters have been met by police brutality in their demonstrations.
Interior Minister, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed in a statement notified the Community Development and Human Rights Organization that they will not get clearance to hold demonstrations.
