There seem to be nowhere to hide for President Musa Bihi as women groups joined the fray to push his government to adhere to the elections calendar and have the presidential polls held in November.
Maroodijeeh women on Thursday urged the president to hold the presidential election on 13 November without delay and to immediately start expediting the electoral process.
The women have now joined the opposition, the civil society, traditional and religious leaders who have separately asked the president to respect the constitution and hold elections when his term comes to an end in November.
The women who were carrying placards reading “ Timely election, YES.. unconstitutional postponement, NO” said the President can go for another term if he so wishes but must hold the elections as stipulated without attempting to extend his term.
The voice of the women will definitely add more pressure on the government which has remained coy on the plans to have the elections staged on time.
The opposition parties Waddani and UCID have threatened to go to the streets to demonstrate as a mean of pushing the government to give in while the religious leaders have also told the president to respect the law.
